Course Justification
From among studies conducted, variations were found as a significant cause of cost (and time) overruns, which may lead the Quantity Surveyor's core job, Cost Management, to fail. Changes/variations are also a root cause of conflict & disputes in many projects. Although changes are inevitable in construction projects, effective and efficient change management is a prerequisite for delivering a dispute-free project while achieving cost management success. Employers require CAs/QSs with the required knowledge, expertise, and abilities to manage project costs and variations.
Course Description
This course covers all theoretical and practical elements of change/variation management, from the early stage through project completion, and relevant key legal cases. It consists of 40 hours of lectures, and group discussions, group presentations, and collaborative activities. Module end examinations, project work and assignments are all part of the evaluations.
Aim: Enhanced attendee knowledge, experience, and skill to the point that they can handle change management process/variations independently.
Course Outcome:
- Independently manage variations in any complexity.
- Avoid, minimize and control variations.
- Advice parties on any complicated issues relates to variations.
- Be the advocate for variation in your organization.
Who Should Attend: Quantity Surveyors/Contract Administrators
Minimum Entry Qualification:
- A minimum of Certificate in Quantity Surveying; or
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a directly related disciplinary
